Rinoplasty

Rhinoplasty – also known as a “nose job” is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures. It is a surgical art form that alters and improves the appearance of the nose, aiming to create a natural-looking nose that is in proportion to the rest of the face. The result may be subtle or dramatic, depending on the requirements of the client. In some cases, the surgery may be performed in order to help to improve nasal breathing difficulties caused by injury or birth defect.

This procedure is suitable for anyone who has concerns about the shape or size of their nose; who has suffered trauma to the nose; or who struggles with respiratory difficulties.

Closed Rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty is chosen for patients who require minimal correction to their nasal structure. This technique does not require any external incisions; instead, the incisions are made within the nostrils for complete scar concealment. Through the incisions, your surgeon may shave down the cartilage and bone or add grafts taken from the septum, ear, or rib.

Open Rhinoplasty

Open rhinoplasty is ideal for patients who require more extensive correction to their nasal structure. This technique includes an additional incision across the columella (the strip of skin between the nostrils) so that your surgeon can lift the skin back for increased visualization. Through the incisions, your surgeon may shave down the cartilage and bone or add grafts taken from the septum, ear, or rib. Open rhinoplasty results in an external “zig-zag” scar across the base of the columella.

WHAT DOES RINOPLASTY PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

Rhinoplasty is performed according to each patient’s unique needs and goals. Depending on the extent of modification, your nose surgery may be performed using incisions within the nostrils or through an external incision between your nostrils. Rhinoplasty corrects nasal concerns by narrowing the nasal bridge, altering nostril openings, reshaping the tip of the nose, or straightening an off-center, crooked nose.
